Lee & Thompson celebrates Pride Month

28th June 2024

Here at L&T, as part of our Inclusion and Belonging Network’s strategy, we celebrate LGBTQ+ rights, and all strands of diversity, all year round. However, Pride Month provides an opportunity to connect with the LGBTQ+ community, and to learn more about our history and ongoing fight for equality and acceptance. This year, we celebrated Pride Month with a range of activities, bringing the whole firm together. Our main event was a Pride Picnic on our roof terrace (the Great British weather was not kind to us but we improvised!), raising funds for Queer Britain, the UK’s first LGBTQ+ museum, of which the Head of our Inclusion and Belonging Network, Huw Morris, is a Patron.

Our LGBTQ+ Champions posted a guest blog on our intranet about the importance of Pride. We organised two lunchtime walks – the first to see our client Outernet‘s exhibition of LGBTQ+ history, and the second to Gay’s The Word, the UK’s oldest LGBTQ+ bookshop.

We added new LGBTQ+ themed resources to our DEI Book Exchange, and selected Pulitzer prize-winning novel Less for members of our L&T Book Club to discuss. We attended an evening hosted by Monzo focusing on LGBTQ+ finance in our capacity as the law firm member of the WaveLGBT+ network. We’ll also be attending en masse the various events hosted by Classical Pride next week, celebrating LGBTQ+ culture through classical music. It’s been a busy month but we have enjoyed celebrating Pride together.
