On Tuesday, we were privileged to be joined for a fireside chat by Emma Cusdin and Rachel Reese from Global Butterflies, an organisation dedicated to promoting understanding of trans and non-binary issues, to commemorate and celebrate LGBT+ History Month. The session was led by one of our LGBTQ+ Champions, Michael Maquieira and the Executive Sponsor of our Inclusion and Belonging Network, Huw Morris.

The theme of LGBT+ History Month in 2025 is “Activism and Change”. Emma and Rachel have been at the forefront of the fight for trans and non-binary inclusion in the UK and abroad for many years.

The discussion with Emma and Rachel touched on topics from across the LGBTQ+ spectrum, with a particular focus on trans and non-binary issues. The key takeaway from the session was that to be an effective ally requires reaching out, speaking up and supporting with respect but without fear of saying the wrong thing. The fight for equality and civil rights dies in silence.
