Dispute resolution partners Mike Brookes and Mark Stafford were invited to share their legal expertise at Markel Insurers’ annual Media & Entertainment seminar, where they each led a panel talk for media insurance brokers.

Both Mike’s talk, “Baby Reindeer: This is a true story?”, and Mark’s talk, “AI-generated works: A shortcut to risk?”, approached the legal aspect of Errors and Omissions (“E&O”) insurance, providing production companies, broadcasters, newspapers and podcasters  cover against the risk of third parties suing them for copyright infringement, defamation or privacy claims arising out of their content.

The event, run by the Media & Entertainment team of underwriters and claims managers from Markel, also included talks from Jake Edmonds of Media Safety Ltd, who spoke about his experiences of arranging stunts on films, and Ben Field of Deep Fusion Films, who talked about AI deepfake productions in film and television.
