Associate Henrietta Currie was invited to share legal pointers with music managers at a virtual training course run by MMF (Music Managers Forum), “Essentials of Music Management”, last week.

The two-day course gave managers a practical and future-fit overview of the role of a music manager, including how to build a team, the role of lawyers, accountants, insurance brokers, PRS and PPL and more.

Henrietta’s session gave attendees the lowdown on music management agreements, including when managers require a contract with an artist, the standard terms of a management agreement, new types of management deals emerging in the industry, as well as what types of label and record deals are currently used the most.

Other trainers on the course were Nadia Khan of CTRL Music, Olivia Fuller of Hardwick & Morris LLP and Paul Barrie of Tysers.
