This week, Lee & Thompson participated in the renowned media consultancy MediaXchange‘s web-based global film and TV strategic forum, ‘Business & Legal’ on the theme of coproducing with France.

Offering global knowledge exchange on the business of international film and TV drama, the all-day virtual forum attracted members of the professional film and TV industry community.

Lee & Thompson Consultant Jeremy Gawade moderated a panel, drawing on his industry expertise in the effect of the SVOD market on film production in France, as well as foreign producers looking to set up a French co-production, and the outlook for the independent European feature film market. Speaking on the panel were MK2 Films‘ acquisition manager Yasmine Talli, La Fabrica Nocturne Cinéma‘s producer Marina Perales Marhuenda and executive producer Clemens Kostlin.

Senior Associate Alastair Mavor then delivered a co-production workshop covering the key commercial terms in feature films coproduction deals, including the structure, rights, approvals, fees, credits and contingent compensation.

Attendees ranged from national film industry bodies across the participating territories to major and independent TV producers, distributors, funders and agencies.
