Shay Kennedy - Associate, Corporate & Commercial

Shay is an Associate in Lee & Thompson’s Commercial department and advises clients across the creative industries on a broad range of matters.

He regularly provides legal and commercial advice in relation to performing arts projects, live events, talent deals, sponsorship and endorsement deals, advertising campaigns, and the protection and exploitation of intellectual property.

Shay completed his training contract at Lee & Thompson in September 2024, having joined as a paralegal in our Film, TV & Games department. Prior to this Shay, worked as a Sigma Law Specialist for Reed Smith and Elevate Legal Services, providing support across a range of practice areas including funds finance, real estate, and commercial litigation.

He holds a first-class law degree from the University of Leeds and was subsequently awarded a scholarship from the Law Society to complete the LLM LPC (combined) at BPP University Law School.

Outside of work, Shay has a keen interest in the performing arts, having previously worked on projects for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, BBC Radio 4 and the National Youth Theatre.
